Closing a dealer's online shop without losing the bike configurators

I removed the online shop from a motorcycle dealer's site, rebuilt its bike configurators as request forms and moved the reworked site to the live domain.

Buyers still put their bike together, then send a request to the dealer instead of paying.

A German motorcycle dealer had stopped selling online, yet its site still ran a full shop with prices, a cart and a checkout. Its two bike configurators ended in that cart. The shop had to come out without breaking the site, and then the reworked site had to move onto the live domain.

I worked on a copy on a temporary address, with a snapshot of the live site as the way back. I took out the menu item, the mini cart, the cart, the checkout, the product catalogue and the prices in the configurators. I kept both configurators and rebuilt them as request forms. The buyer still picks colour, power, brakes, wheels and suspension, then sends a request to the dealer. I reworked the home page and the payment information page to match.

I moved the site to the live system with a migration plugin, the method the agency chose. It went live on the dealer’s domain in February 2026. The shop is fully off, and a buyer can still build a bike in either configurator and send it to the dealer as a request.
