Alliance virtual museum: taking over and growing a 3D web museum
I took over a 3D web museum in three languages from an earlier team and led it through two versions: links to every exhibit, new halls, a floor map, lighter media.
Service
Your developer left, or nobody wants to touch the code any more. I read it, make it stable and keep it moving.
A big part of my work started as someone else’s code: a cooking community’s React Native app, a 3D museum, a UK publisher’s five separate WordPress installs. Each time the product had to keep moving while I fixed what was under it.
Result
Code, hosting, plugins, access and risks, written down in plain words before anything changes.
Backups, a staging copy and updates first. Then I fix what already fails, broken installs and hacked sites included.
New pages, features and releases on the codebase you already paid for. I rewrite only what really needs it.
In practice
I took over a 3D web museum in three languages from an earlier team and led it through two versions: links to every exhibit, new halls, a floor map, lighter media.
I took over a stalled recipe app and its small web server, brought the app in line with store rules and shipped eight iOS releases.
I moved a small shop off an abandoned theme to Flatsome. Two years later I found a hack hidden since 2019 and cleaned it out with the catalogue intact.
I made a full local working copy with dated restore points of a surveying firm's inherited WordPress site, and mapped its theme typography into CSS variables.
Since 2023 I've been the developer of a UK publisher's comparison sites: merged installs, custom plugins, fixes and a domain store.
The brand's hosted store went offline. I rebuilt the shop on WooCommerce with a German-law checkout and brought back its old links and reviews.
I looked after a metalworking company's old WordPress site, filled and tested its new TYPO3 site, and moved the domain to the new site with the mail intact.
I took over a tax advisor's Elementor site and finished it for launch: ten pages fixed for phones and tablets, the client's questions answered and a video post template added.
FAQ
No. That's the usual start. I have taken over WordPress themes, a React museum and a React Native app in the middle of their life. Reading someone else's code is part of the job.
Only if that is cheaper than fixing it, and then I'll show you why. Usually it isn't. Most of the value is in what already works.
That's enough to start. I take a full copy, put it under version control and set up a staging site before I touch production.
Jobs start at €100. For a site I don't know yet, a Site check is €100, and it counts toward the work.
