A product-review website on a custom WordPress theme

The company needed a site with reviews of products in its category and articles, kept up by its own team. The brief allowed a ready-made marketplace theme. A custom design and theme were chosen instead, so that every part could be edited from the admin.

I designed the home and review pages in Figma with colours from the client’s logo. The client approved the colours and commented right in Figma. Before coding we agreed the menu and page structure in writing, with a contact form in the footer instead of a separate page.

The custom theme has a header, footer and menus editable from the admin. A review has a price, a verdict, a conclusion, scores on five criteria with the overall score counted automatically, and any number of pros and cons. Brand pages show a brand’s review count and average score, and the home page slider is managed from the admin.

I showed every stage on a test copy, with admin access and short videos on editing. Then I moved the site to the client’s hosting and supported it afterwards, including a one-line fix for a duplicated image that the client applied himself.

The site went live on the client’s domain on 25 September 2023. The client’s team published its rated reviews through the theme.
